Mechanical Turk is owned and operated by a Seattle based electronic commerce giant Amazon. Mechanical Turk is like Microworkers, were you make money by performing simple jobs. The mini tasks are called HITs (Human Intelligence Tasks) this are the individual tasks that you work on.

Advantages for being a Turker includes:
1. Work from the comfort of your home.
2. You can work any time of the day, you can choose your own work hours.
3. You will get paid for doing good work.

Disadvantages:
1. Pays too little, you will earn cents for each task. There are higher amount but it takes too much time.

Here how it goes, after finishing a tasks, the employer will approve or reject your job. You get paid once it get approved. If you are good at what you do and you are productive you can achieve the "Masters" status that will unlock better-paying tasks.
